What's the Difference Between ABN and TFN?

For those who want to work in Australia or start applying for jobs, whether it's part-time, full-time, or casual positions, you need a tax identification number so that your employer can accurately pay your wages in accordance with the law. There are two types of tax identification numbers: TFN and ABN.

The Australian Tax Office (ATO) manages taxation matters in Australia.

In Summary:

  • TFN stands for Tax File Number, which is an individual tax identification number.

  • ABN stands for Australian Business Number, which is a unique identifier for businesses and organizations.

It's important to note that you need to obtain a TFN before you can apply for an ABN.
